Rosehill Tancred Day Review

The Kiwi star now has the Oaks well within her sights

The first race to look at is R2 the G3 Neville Selwood at 2000m and here our $2.30 rated top pick was 103 horse Serpentine and he was off the canvas showing all the Waterhouse M&B to win rating 102/102 He held off Fav Zeyrek whom we dodged rating him $6.10, we had him a 100 horse going in and got 100/102. There is a race for him soon. They had 2 lengths on 3rd placed Renaissance Woman who rated 93/98 as we found the First 4 in our top 4.

R3 was the G3 Baillieu for the 2yo's and top pick Linebacker whose SR 90 on debut was 8 better than standard who showed tenacity to score with 96/92  some nice progression, He edged out 2nd pick Anode who I marked down with the 3kg weight rise but again 96/91 was another nice step forward. They had 2 lengths on 3rd.

R4 was the G2 Tulloch at 2000m for 3yo's with Derby dreams and it was my best bet of the day in the $2.20 rated Wymark who won strongly. I had him a 99 horse going in and 102/105 was a lovely step up and puts the Derby right in his sights. Runner up Noisy Boy showed he had come back bigger and stronger stepping up to 2000m as he peaked 3rd up with 99/103 a new peak for him. The 3rd placed Saltcoats had the best last 400m as he also peaked 3rd up this time out to a trip 98/105 was his best to date and is another 3yo coming into his own. There numbers were dominant over 4th placed KIntyre with 96/94.

R5 was the G2 Emancipation for the F&M's, the winner was overlay 2nd pick Olentia who also peaked 3rd up, She was a confirmed SrR105 horse in 2023 and when to a whole new level out to 1500m with 104/110 in a dominant 2.6 length win. Runner Up Arctic Glamour showed her love for Rosehill last time she was here she won by 4 rating 97/106. On this there is a race for her soon. Top pick Ruthless Dame was a value 3rd with 92/97 but 3 lengths off the winner. We also dodged the unplaced $3.20 Fav Makarena who was an ugly watch 89/92 but you are best put a line through the run. Hinged was disappointing with 88/89.

R6 was the G3 Star Kingdom at 1200m and the winner Bandi's Boy ran a huge career peak with 99/99. Our top pick was the resuming  Hawaii FiveOh who blew like he turned up with 3 legs and raced like he turned up with 2. Beaten 9 lengths and something clearly amiss. Last year's Slipper winner Shinzo has been often spruiked and he was disappointing with 91/88. Roots ran a cracker fresh, she has long  been one of mine and looks in for another great campaign off 92/94.. Malkovich can be nigh on impossible to catch but can be a nuisance if he gets loose on the lead which he did here 98/88 showed how lacking he was in the finish.

HTF - Roots

R7 was the G1 Vinery at 2000m for the fillies with Oaks dreams and Kiwi star Orchestral was really strong late coming off a moderate tempo whilst dropping back 400m in trip.92/104 was excellent and she is now primed for the Oaks. Runner up Tutta La Vita followed her XR 103 first up with 89/96 but was no match late whilst VRC Oaks winner Zardozi chased bravely for 3rd 86 /100 suggests she is going as well as she can and will make her presence known in the big one.

HTF- Orchestral

R8 was the G1 Tancred  at 2400m and something was clearly amiss with Post Impressionist or it was the biggest bounce we have seen in some time, coming off 115/116 in the G3 Manion at previous start, he settled last and stayed last with 75/84. The winner Kalapour was hard to find price wise although I will admit I underrated him, he was a 102 horse coming in and peak 3rd up out at his trip the 99/105 was right in his wheelhouse. Hindsight is always 20/20 but geee I should of given him his 102, his XR 2nd up was 102 and I should of had him at the $13 mark. To err is to be human. More Felons who had OS form that tied in with Post Impressionaist and was meeting him far better at the weight got plenty of support  with 98/105 seeing him at his best. Ashrun XR 102, Athabascan XR103 and Buckeroo XR 103 were all very honest

R9 was the G3 Doncaster Prelude and clear top pick Another Wil really announced him as top class if he hadn't  already. i had him as a 109 horse coming in off an XR 117 and his 108/108 here was dominant in a 2 length win. The Doncaster down in the weights will be ideal. This fellow is a 'good' horse. Runner up Bandersnatch who hadnt fired a shot this campaign returned to best but 98/100 shows the difference between 1st and 2nd. Import Welwal was rock solid with 95/101 but this race is all about the winner.

HTF- Another Wil

We ended the day with a BM88 and our$3.30 top pick Gringotts was $4.4 into $3.5 despite the prospect of a tough trip, which he got but was still too good. he was a 98 horse going in and 98/101 was very good considering the trip he had. All honours. The runner up Iknowastar was 97/83 and again the difference between 1st and 1nd clearly highlighted.

We head back to Randwick for one of the great days of Australian racing, with the G1 Derby, The G1 Doncaster, The G1 Sires and the G1 TJ Smith this Saturday and as ever we will be all over it like hair on a gorilla.
