Rosehill Review 16/3

It was a big day at Rosehill kicking off with the $5 rated Super Bright winning at a Gold Mining $8.50, we followed that with the $2.30 rated Wymark winning at $3.40 before we got to  our first bit of Black type

That first bit of Black type was R3 the Magic Night  at G3 level for the 2yo Fillies and the race lost the 6/4 fav before I had started doing the form. My advice was to stay out but for those that played my $2.80 top pick Drifting went from $15 to $4.20 before franking his 2nd behind Bold Bastille  the run prior where she rated 94/94 with a tidy win at first go at 1200m but 90/89 was just fair. We dodged the over bet fav Fly Fly who ran 2nd. She came in off SR's of 82 and 84 and proved a notch to Sr 85 but there are no Slipper contenders here.

R4 was the G3 Pago Pago for the 2yo boys and again my advice was to stay out. For those that played we dodged the over bet fav Gatsby who ran unlaced. His SR of 88 on debut was 10 better than par but 83/84 when 4th showed no improvement stepping to 1200m for the first time. We rated the $20 winner Dublin Down at that quote coming off a weak run first up in the Blue Diamond. His best was SR 86 in debut stanza and his 93/90 2nd up here was a nice step up. Runner Up Anode was +18 on debut  before 87/88 when 3rd at start 2. He made another step forward with 91/91. Victorian Coleman was best home in 22.3 for 3rd also after a shocker in the Blue Diamond which seems to put plenty of merit in Hayasugi's Blue Diamond win. His 97/97 down the straight 5 prior had plenty of merit and 59/89 here suggests the 1200m was well within his wheelhouse.

R5 was the G3 Sky High at 2000m and with so many queries I advised again to stay out but the money just kept coming for Lindemann, he was into $1.90 by the jump and he toyed with them and the penny looks to have finally dropped this time in.following his SR 104 first up with a huge career peak 115/116 in a 4 length win. Stayer Kalapour ran 2nd with 98/102 at 2nd run back suggesting he is in for another good campaign The same applies for the 3rd placed Stockman with 95/102. They are both looking for 2400m. Just Fine was awful for the 3rd time in a row and looks a shadow of the galloper that won back to back 2000m races rating 121 and 121 last time in. Something clearly amiss with him.
HTF - Lindemann

R6 was the G3 McCarten at 1100m and equal top pick Red Card and he followed his SR 98 in his last start win the same T&D with another SR 98. The other equal top pick Airman ran 3rd but 93/93 was down on his best he was 1st up and is better suited at 1200m so looking for him at 6 furlongs next time out. Runner up Libertad had been been 30 lengths first up when obviously amiss but got back on track with 95/96 when home 22.1. He had 98/101 last time in so looks like he is back on track.

R7 was the G2 Phar Lap for the 3yos at 1500m and Gold Miners feasted when $3.90 2nd pick and reigning Oaks champ Zardozi won easily at a staggering $13. As i said in my comment obviously looking for longer but did have 98/102 in a mile G2 win last time in. 108/103 was excellent although running out of gas late but still had 2 lengths on them. She will only improve on this. Top pick Makarana ran 2nd, predicted 96 for her and got 100/93. 3rd pick Kintyre was a 95 horse going in and improved with 100/97. I also suggested the Les Vampires was one for Betfair layers to consider coming off back to back neg split run yet even more money came for him and again the numbers don't lie with him weakening badly in the straight rating 93/83.

R8 was the G1 Highlight of the day with the 1500m Coolmore for the F&M's We had Tropical Squall as a Gold Miner and she was grabbed in the shadows for 4th with 104/98. The winner was 2nd pick Zougotcha, she had rated 105/109 winning the same T&D back in march of last year and franked that with 106/104. Semana followed her SR 101 win at 1200m at previous start with 104/103 franked by 104/105 last time in. Kimochi who has been so good to us was huge for 3rd after being wide the trip. She followed her SrR103 2 back with 104/103. She is such a consistent filly and better than many think Hinged also stuck on after a  tough trip following on from her 99/102 when a winner for us in Melbourne at her previous start with 103/104 when home best in the race with 22.7 for the last 400m

The G2 Ajax also at 1500m was R9 and Democracy Manifest went to a whole new level rating 114/117, he was .7 of second faster than Zougtcha and 1.5 seconds faster than Zardozi for the same trip. he got home in 22.2. Runner Up Territory Express was huge from the tail following off a SR 97  in a win at Kembla at previous, that rating was 12 better than standard but 114/115 here was  a huge step forward. Looks a real genuine improver. The resuming Detonator Jack  who was a confirmed XR 105 horse last time kept up his strong first up record with 112/108 whilst Bold Mac is a horse that i have time for and is very capable of running time on his day, he was a confirmed XR 108 horse last year with a best of 115 at 1800m + so his 108/115 suggests primed to peak next start out over further at 4th run

The last was a BM88 and we dodged the hopelessly over bet Tavi Time, we had him 2.4 and he become another in a long recent string of horses beaten at silly short quotes, $1.60 i man really?! I had him a 99 horse going in and we got 96/101We rated the winner Whinchat at $5.20 and he was $6 into $4.40 before a tidy all the way win. 101/101 here is franked by SR's of 106 and 105 2 and 3 runs back. Gently Rolled blew like he turned up with 3 legs coming off back to back wins with 89/96 well down on my expectations

We stay at Rosehill next Saturday for 4 big G1's, the Slipper, The Galaxy, The Guineas and the Ranvet as ever we will have it all covered
