Cox Plate Day review

Ashford Street rated at $4.30 won the first at $8.50< Bold Bastille rated at $4.50 won R2 at $5.50

R3  was the G3 Tesio for the Mares and $2.20 top pick Wishlor Lass was predicted at 99 and we got 104/96 after she was backed from $2.90 to $2.20 on race day. We also found the Trifecta in our top 4. Runner Up Thalassiophile rated 99/94 and can only have come on.

R4 Crocket Stakes Listed 3yo F
Our 1 x 3 Gold Miner play Sheva ran 3rd after coming in from $6.8 to $4.6 , 88/88 was a little below what I expected. The winner Gumdrops was only making 3rd trip to races and made a nice step up with 89/90. 91 horse Saltaire came on 2nd up and was best home rated 89/94 and looks primed to peak 3rd up.

R5 The Crystal Mile G2
We found the trifecta in our top 3, they were all under and my advice was to stay out. The winner was 4yo Kiwi  mare Prowess who is a triple confirmed Sr 99 horse with a best SR of 106 at 2000m at home. I wasnt quite expecting her to run to best 2nd up at a mile but 106/105 has her at the peak of her powers and she is another looking primed to find best next start over further. 107 horse Antino didnt have the best of luck ..again and 105/105 suggests still racing at a very high level. Tuvalu was a little disappointing in the run home after a soft lead rating 104/100. He was a confirmed Sr 108 horse last season and just isnt racing to that level

R6 G2 Fillies Classic 1600m
We saw that G1 Flight form disappointing again when caotain Amelia didnt fire a shot, she drifted like she turned up with 3 legs. .hey didnt go hard but 78/88 was well down on expected. The impressive winner was the unbeaten Skybird with 93/102 and big jump in the ratings and brings her right into 1000 Guineas calculations. There  was plenty of money for Grinzinger Belle, $35 into $11 returning back to the mile. 2 back she rated 94/98 at the mile and she ran the best closing splits with 92/107 +17  suggesting she can be followed. The only other runner to consider  from this was the 3rd placed Carina Queen with 89/96.

R7 The G2 Vase 3yo 2040m
Again we found the trifecta in our top 4 with 2nd rated Apulia $7 into $4.20 on race day. He was +20 in the CFD Guineas and lit up the clock here 111/106, Top pick Verdad was no match late 103/96, we had him rated at 98 so 103/95 was right on the money. He has ability and will win races. 3rd placed Air Assault was 3.5 lengths back rating 95/01 in a race that fell away quickly.

R8 The G1 Manikato 1200m
We had star Impreitriz at 115 with an 11 point advantage and this time she went forward jumped on the bunny and won as she liked. The small field always meant the time would be slower than what she was capable of. 109/103 was like a trial I Am me ran on from the back 96/95.

R9 The Cox Plate G1 2040m
This always shaped as a cracker and it will go down as one of the great Cox plates. I had been bullish about HK star Romantic warrior since it was announced he was coming and he ran right up to his best with 120/120 leaving many happy clients especially those who took $5.50 when i first wrote about him. Craig Williams rode a freak race  and somehow got beat after 120/121, Alligator Blood made it another top 4 trifecta 118/118 in a race that just rated the house down. Duais was aunlucky and 115/115 has her back to best. Gold Trip was the same and 114/117 a perfect Melbourne Cup lead up. He is low flying. Fangirl didnt have much luck either with 114/117 . 3yo Militarize rated 110/115, watch out for him next season.

R10 Red Anchor G3 3yo 1200m
We finished the day with Gold Miner Archo Nacho 3.8 into 2.6 on race day after being $5.50 when the form went up but there was nothing on the clock here with 83/88, runner up Maharba was unders and ade u a 1-2 finish for us with 81/85 well down on expectations. The race fell right away from there.

Onwards to Cup week with the eye well in
